Adult Education Sunday Morning Class Update

For anyone interested in understanding the profound effect Jesus had on the world, it’s important to realize that his actions and teachings didn’t emerge from a vacuum. Rather, they were the product of a fascinating dialogue with—and reaction to—the traditions, cultures, and historical developments of ancient Jewish beliefs.

Sunday Morning Adult Education Update

Our Sunday morning adult education class began a new course on the New Testament in September. The 24 lectures of this DVD course approach the New Testament from a historical perspective and will address such significant questions as who wrote these books, under what circumstances, and for what audience, as well as questions concerning their historical accuracy. The teacher for the course is Bart Ehrman, professor of Religious Studies at The University of North Carolina.

The class is just 55 minutes long, meeting in the church library at 9:00 am, an hour before the Sunday morning worship service. The class format consists of a 30 minute DVD presentation by the teaching professor, leaving the remainder of class time for discussion. We expect the class to meet every Sunday for the remainder of the year and on into 2017, with the exception of December 25.
