Rev. Steve Eriksen has been the pastor of Shalom since 1999.
The congregation has grown steadily over this time, which has also included completion of a major building expansion project. He demonstrates a Pastor's heart with a genuine concern for people as well as an inclusive spirit.
Born in Olean, New York, Steve grew up in the Pittsburgh area and spent several years driving a taxi cab in that city before answering a call to ministry. After earning degrees from the United Theological Seminary in Dayton, Ohio, and the Earlham School of Religion in Richmond, Indiana, he led UCC congregations in Ohio and Kentucky. He received his Clinical Pastoral Education at The Christ Hospital in Cincinnati during that time.
Since moving to Washington State to join with Shalom, Steve has also served as Disaster Coordinator of the Pacific Northwest Conference for the UCC National Disaster Ministries, and has served the Pacific Northwest Conference as Moderator and as Chairman of the Board of Directors.
In the local community, Steve has been at the center of the Tri-Cities Interfaith Alliance activity helping to organize numerous panel discussions, potluck dinners, and programs involving Christians, Muslims, Jews and people of other faiths.
